Hello, and welcome to my blog.
Let me introduce you to my debut novel, REDISCOVERED, coming out later this year. The blurb that will appear on the back cover of the book should give you an idea of what to expect from REDISCOVERED. Here it is.
Aven thought the handsome young man was an angel. Didn't her religion foretell the coming of angels? She never expected that this innocent misunderstanding would change her whole life, her world, and another, very different one.
In future posts I will be providing you with snippets of actual text from the story--to entice you, of course (full disclosure). I call them teasers.
Now . . . if the phrase "speculative fiction" is new to you, know that it's simply a modern name for the category of fiction more commonly known as science fiction. Many newer writers prefer the new term because it more fully describes the scope and variety of the genre. There are a dozen or more subcategories of science fiction, some of which have nothing to do with science.
There is still plenty of science fiction that does involve science, technology, and space wars, but modern SF relies for its appeal on character and relationships much more than the original model did. In other words, SF has adopted some of the features of mainstream literature.
There is also a trend away from the male Caucasian domination of science fiction. I regularly read stories by writers with such names as Cixin Liu, Nnedi Okorafor, Lavie
Tidhar, Mary Anne Mohanraj, and Rebecca Roanhorse.
REDISCOVERED is a work of science fiction, light on the science and heavy on human interest. (I think you will find the characters engaging.) There are spaceships in it, but treated only as a means to move people from one place to another. It is a future history tale because it depicts Earth, five hundred year from now, united with Mars and the Moon in a Solarian League. However, most of the action take place on a second planet with a feudal culture--kings and castles and lords and swords and all that good stuff.
I hope you are intrigued. Ordering information will be supplied when the book becomes available.
