Teaser #16

As her days in Moreth accumulated, Alfyra formed a more precise picture of the situation there. In all her letters Lydda had spoken of her struggle to elevate the moral standards of the people around her, and she'd referred often to her supporters. Rather fancifully Alfyra had pictured two sizable factions, one good and one evil, facing off across a courtyard. In reality Lydda's supporters were a trio of clucking busybodies whose function was to nose out peccadilloes and report them to her. Armed with their tattlings she attempted to exert moral pressure by means of disapproving glares and caustic remarks pitched to be overheard. As she admitted to Alfyra, even at its most effective this method did little more than cause a few individuals to become more furtive in their questionable activities.
